about

Tàladh Chrìosda "Christ Child’s Lullaby"
One of the most famous Gaelic hymns, this lullaby is sung from the perspective of the Virgin Mary where she praises her son, her Saviour and his glorious future. Originally thought to be composed the Roman Catholic Priest Ranald Rankin in the nineteenth century, Marit and Rona use the melody collected by Margaret Fay Shaw in South Uist, and which is still used in masses across the Highlands today.
